Lessons Worth Re-Learning

This is my journey that the LORD Jesus Christ has taken me on in my life. So don't be surprised, this is a Christian site written by a Christian. Most of us have lived our Christian lives such that if we bloomed where we were planted, we'd be mushrooms in a cave! If you would like to subscribe to this blog, please send me an e-mail.

I am just like everyone else: I make it one day at a time with a little bit of humor. The Word of God is a fire in my heart that burns all the way down to my bones and I cannot hold it back. Jeremiah 20:9

Who is Jesus to you? Pt. 6

Does anyone remember a TV show from the late 1960's and early 70's called "The Courtship of Eddie's Father"?  I still remember the jingle they sang at the start of every show.  It ran something like this, "People let me tell you 'bout my best friend!  He's my one boy, cuddly toy.  My ups, my downs, my pride and joy!"

It was a catchy tune that you couldn't get out of your head. (Obviously!)

Well, how many times do you tell others about your best friends?  "O man, so and so was really there for me when . . ."  "You could always call on them for (whatever)"  "Shiela is a great gal" or " Howard is a real stand up guy."

Let me tell you about my best friend. His name is "I AM".  Because no matter what I need, He's there.  You see He created this universe.  He created this solar system.  He put this planet at just the right place so that it was the perfect home for us.

He is the missing energy that scientists cannot find that holds the atoms together.  His hand is what protects us from the large asteroids that could wipe out all life here.  The same with what people are calling the 'doomsday solar flare'.

He has been and always will be my constant companion, confidant, shoulder-to-cry-on, supply, sun by day, moon by night, the water I drink, the bread I eat, the air I breathe.

When I was under a lot of stress one time, I saw Him in a vision.  He stood up from His throne, set His scepter down, walked down the stairs, and hugged me.  To this day, I can still feel the pressure of His arms and smell the incense.  It still makes me cry.

I know that no matter what ever happens to me, no matter what I have to go through, He's right there with me.  When I pray, I not only praise Him and tell Him my needs, I listen for His voice.  Sometimes it's important to just shut up and listen.  Exist in His presence.  Absorb His peace.  Receive His refreshing.

My pastor says his favorite scripture is ". . . and it came to pass."  Because, you see, these things are only temporary.  This life is only temporary.  This existence is only temporary.  The life we will live with Him is eternal!

"I AM" expresses to you that no matter what you need, He is it.  Some sources say there are over 300 names of GOD.  Too many for me to list.  Out of all the names of GOD, they each only express a very limited aspect of who He is.  "I AM" is the closest we can get to expressing the whole picture.

I hope you have met Him.  Oh, and by the way, He's also called Jesus!

One Solitary Life

I have a poster of this in my kitchen back in New Mexico.  It is placed next to the doorway so that I can look at it everytime I go in and out of the kitchen.  It is very simular to one that Dr. James Allan Francis wrote in the early 1900's.  It is possible that someone liked it but not so lengthy.  I think this version is better, it is not so complicated.

We have FREE access to GOD!

Again, Charles Spurgeon has written about another awesone truth that we need to take hold of tightly!  The veil of the temple was to separate the people and even the priests from the presence of GOD that resided on the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant Because to just see GOD would instantly kill you.  The priests went through a complicated process of sanctification before they did their duties in the Holy of Holies where the ark was located.

The veil was 60 yds. long, 30 yds. high, and as thick as a man's hand.  It was said to take 300 priests to clean it should it need it.  And it was only by being sanctified and carrying the blood of the sacrifice could they enter the Holy of Holies.

Jesus was the Lamb that was slain for all our sins and that is why we have free and direct access to the presence of GOD whenever we pray!

"Behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom."
        Matthew 27:51

No mean miracle was wrought in the rending of so strong and thick a veil; but it was not intended merely as a display of power--many lessons were herein taught us. The old law of ordinances was put away, and like a worn-out vesture, rent and laid aside. When Jesus died, the sacrifices were all finished, because all fulfilled in Him, and therefore the place of their presentation was marked with an evident token of decay. That rent also revealed all the hidden things of the old dispensation: the mercy-seat could now be seen, and the glory of God gleamed forth above it. By the death of our Lord Jesus we have a clear revelation of God, for He was "not as Moses, who put a veil over his face." Life and immortality are now brought to light, and things which have been hidden since the foundation of the world are manifest in Him. The annual ceremony of atonement was thus abolished. The atoning blood, which was once every year sprinkled within the veil, was now offered once for all by the great High Priest, and therefore the place of the symbolical rite was broken up. No blood of bullocks or of lambs is needed now, for Jesus has entered within the veil with His own blood. Hence access to God is now permitted, and is the privilege of every believer in Christ Jesus. There is no small space laid open through which we may peer at the mercy-seat, but the rent reaches from the top to the bottom. We may come with boldness to the throne of the heavenly grace. Shall we err if we say that the opening of the Holy of Holies in this marvellous manner by our Lord's expiring cry was the type of the opening of the gates of paradise to all the saints by virtue of the Passion? Our bleeding Lord hath the key of heaven; He openeth and no man shutteth; let us enter in with Him into the heavenly places, and sit with Him there till our common enemies shall be made His footstool.

Who Is Jesus To You? Pt. 5

The next post I make about 'Who Is Jesus To You?' will be the last one.  I could continue on and on because there is so much to cover.   In the meantime, continue to meditate on just who Jesus is TO YOU.  Post a comment to share that with everyone!

"I AM"  by Mark Schultz

'I AM' LYRICS
 - MARK SCHULTZ
from Sing365.com

I AM the maker of the heavens.
I AM the bright and morning star.
I AM the breath of all creation,
Who always was and is to come.
I AM the One Who walked on water,
I AM the One Who calmed the seas,
I AM the miracles and wonder,
So come and see,
Oh follow me,
And you will know that...

Chorus:
I AM the Fount of living water,
The risen Son of Man,
The Healer of the broken.
And when you cry
I AM your Savior and Redeemer,
Who bore the sin of man,
The Author and Perfector,
Beginning and the end.
Yes I AM!

2nd verse:
I AM the Spirit deep inside you.
I AM the Word upon your heart.
I AM the One Who even knew you
Before your birth,
before you were...

Chorus:
I AM the Fount of living water,
The risen Son of Man,
The Healer of the broken
And when you cry
I AM your Savior and Redeemer,
Who bore the sin of man,
The Author and Perfector,
Beginning and the end.
I AM,
yes I AM!

Bridge:
Throughout the earth,
I AM the universe.
I AM in every heart.
I AM where you are.
I AM the Lord of lords,
The King of kings,
The Holy Lamb,
Above all things.
Yes I AM...

Chorus:
The Mighty God,
your Father,
The risen Son of Man,
The Healer of the broken.
And when you cry
I AM your Savior and Redeemer,
Who bore the sin of man,
The Author and Perfector,
Beginning and the end.
Yes I AM.
Yes I AM.
Yes I AM.
Oh I AM!

Who is Jesus to you? Pt. 4

This is the most awesome video that I have ever seen! I just can't say enough about it!

That's My King
by Dr. S. M. Lockridge

Here are the words to it:

"The Bible says my King is the:
King of the Jews
He's the King of Israel
He's the King of Righteousness
He's the King of the Ages
He's the King of Heaven
He's the King of Glory
He's the King of Kings
and He's the Lord of Lords

That's my King! I wonder, do you know Him?

My King is a Sovereign King.
No means of measure can define His Limitlessness.
He's enduringly strong.
He's entirely sincere.
He's eternally steadfast.
He's immortally graceful.
He's imperially powerful.
He's impartially merciful.

Do you know Him?

He's the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world.
He's God's Son.
He's the sinner's Savior.
He's the centerpiece of civilization.
He's unparalleled
He's unprecedented
He's the loftiest idea in literature
He's the highest personality in philosophy
He's the fundamental doctrine of true theology
He's the only one qualified to be an all sufficient saviour.

I wonder if you know Him today?

He supplies strength to the weak
He's available for the tempted and the tried
He sympathizes and He saves
He strengthens and sustains
He guards and He guides
He heals the sick
He cleansed the lepers
He forgives sinners
He discharges debtors
He delivers the captive
He defends the feeble
He blesses the young
He serves the unfortunate
He regards the aged
He rewards the diligent
He beautifies the meek

I wonder if you know Him!?

He's the key to knowledge
He's the wellspring of wisdom
He's the doorway of deliverance
He's the pathway of peace
He's the roadway of righteousness
He's the highway of holiness
He's the gateway of glory

Do you know Him?

His life is matchless
His goodness is limitless
His mercy is everlasting
His love never changes
His Word is enough
His grace is sufficient
His reign is righteous
His yoke is easy
His burden is light

I wish I could describe Him to you, but He's indescribable.
He's incomprehensible
He's invincible
He's irresistible
You can't get Him out of your mind
You can't get Him off your hand
You can't outlive Him
and you can't live without Him
The Pharisees couldn't stand Him
But they found they couldn't stop Him
Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him
Herod couldn't kill Him
Death couldn't handle Him
and the grave couldn't hold Him!!!

THAT'S MY KING!
THAT'S MY KING!!!"

Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

Psalm 107  (ESV)

1. Oh give thanks to the LORD; for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!

2.  Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble

3.  and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

4.  Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in;

5.  hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.

6.  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

7.  He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.

8.  Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!

9. For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.

10.  Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons,

11.  for they had rebelled against the words of GOD, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.

12. So He bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help.

13.  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

14.  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart.

15. Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!

16.  For He shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.

17.  Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;

18. they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.

19. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

20.  He sent out His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

21.  Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!

22.  And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy!

23.  Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters;

24.  they saw the deeds of the LORD, His wondrous works in the deep.

25.  For He commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea.

26.  They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight;

27.  they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits' end.

28.  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

29.  He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.

30.  Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and He brought them to their desired haven.

31.  Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!

32.  Let them extol Him in the congregation of the people, and praise Him in the assembly of the elders.

33.  He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground,

34.  a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants.

35.  He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.

36.  And there He lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in;

37.  they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.

38.  By His blessing they multiply greatly, and He does not let their livestock diminish.

39.  When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow,

40.  He pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes;

41.  but He raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks.

42.  The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.

43.  Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the LORD!

This scripture speaks to me on so many levels.  No matter what the human condition, or what circumstance caused the problem,  when we call upon the LORD, He delivers us!

There have been so many times GOD has delivered us from things!   I have learned to trust Him to heal me when I need it because doctors have misdiagnosed me so many times I can't count them on two hands!  He saved us from a frivolous lawsuit!  In my younger years He saved me from an accident when a car turned in front of me!  When my husband was a motorcycle cop, GOD kept him from harm when a lady hit him with her car!  He straightened my son's crooked teeth!  He would heal both my sons diseases and kept them from harm!  I could go on and on!  Right now we are in the trial of our lives, and He has promised to take care of it!  I will praise the name of the LORD my GOD because He hears every prayer, He feels every pain, He saves all my tears, He knows all my fears, He's everything to me!  His love is everlasting!

Blessed Are the Forgiven Who Trust in the LORD

Psalm 32  (ESV)

1.  Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2.  Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3.  For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4.  For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.

5.  I acknowledged my sin to You, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

6.  Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to You at a time when You may be found;surely in the rush of great waters they shall not reach him.

7.  You are a hiding place for me; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with shouts of deliverance.

8.  "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

9. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you."

10.  Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.

11.  Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit, O LORD

Psalm 31  (ESV)

1. In You, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in Your righteousness deliver me!

2. Incline Your ear to me; rescue me speedily!  Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me!

3. For You are my rock and my fortress; and for Your name's sake You lead me and guide me;

4. You take me out of the net they have hidden for me, for You are my refuge.

5. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful GOD.

6. I hate those who pay regard to worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD.

7 I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love, because You have seen my affliction; You have known the distress of my soul,

8. and You have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a broad place.

9. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also.

10. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.

11. Because of all my adversaries I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbors, and an object of dread to my acquaintances;those who see me in the street flee from me.

12. I have been forgotten like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel.

13. For I hear the whispering of many—terror on every side!—as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.

14. But I trust in You, O LORD; I say, "You are my GOD."

15. My times are in Your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!

16. Make your face shine on your servant; save me in Your steadfast love!

17. O LORD, let me not be put to shame, for I call upon You; let the wicked be put to shame; let them go silently to Sheol.

18. Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt.

19. Oh, how abundant is Your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear You and worked for those who take refuge in You, in the sight of the children of mankind!

20. In the cover of Your presence You hide them from the plots of men; You store them in Your shelter from the strife of tongues.

21. Blessed be the LORD, for He has wondrously shown His steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city.

22. I had said in my alarm, "I am cut off from Your sight."  But You heard the voice of my pleas for mercy when I cried to You for help.

23. Love the LORD, all you his saints!  The LORD preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride.

24. Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD!

We are Safe in GOD's arms!

This is for Carla and Honey.

GOD loves you so much!  Listen to this video and ask Jesus to meet you where you are and He will.  satan doesn't want anyone to know how easy it is!  Jesus died for you!  If you were the only person ever born, He still would have died for you!

Peace with God Through Faith

Romans 5  (ESV)

1. Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with GOD through our LORD Jesus Christ.

2. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and we rejoice in hope of the glory of GOD.

3. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

4. and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

5. and hope does not put us to shame, because GOD's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

6. For while we were still weak, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.

7. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—

8. but GOD shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of GOD.

10. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to GOD by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life.

11. More than that, we also rejoice in GOD through our LORD Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Who is Jesus to you? Pt. 3

Isaiah 45:4-6  (ESV)

4. For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name.  I name you, though you do not know me.
5.  I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides Me there is no GOD; I equip you, though you do not know Me,
6. that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides Me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.

English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version Copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers

This week has been a particularly stressful time.  I feel like I have been under a concerted attack by satan.  Praise the LORD who reigns in Glory and my heart, we don't depend on feelings, but the facts of living fully dependent on Jesus!

The above scripture was the Daily Scripture from a Bible Verses app.  GOD is never late with encouragement!

I have added "Scapegoat" to my list of things that Jesus is to me.

Leviticus 16:3;5-7; 15; 20-22  (KJV)

3 "Thus Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with the blood of a young bull as a sin offering, and of a ram as a burnt offering.

5 And he shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats as a sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering.6 "Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. 7 He shall take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

15 "Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.

20 "And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat. 21 Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. 22 The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.

We believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and this scripture gives us a precident for it.

I believe He fulfilled both goats that day.  He died on the cross and His shed blood sanctified us as the perfect sin offering.

Charles Spurgeon said it quite well, " What learn we here as we see our blessed Lord led forth? Do we not perceive that truth which was set forth in shadow by the scapegoat? Did not the high-priest bring the scapegoat, and put both his hands upon its head, confessing the sins of the people, that thus those sins might be laid upon the goat, and cease from the people? Then the goat was led away by a fit man into the wilderness, and it carried away the sins of the people; so that, if they were sought for, they could not be found. Now we see Jesus brought before the priests and rulers, who pronounce Him guilty; God Himself imputes our sins to Him "the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all;" (Isaiah 53:6) "He was made sin for us;" and, as the substitute for our guilt, bearing our sin upon His shoulders, represented by the cross, we see the great Scapegoat led away by the appointed officers of justice."

Clarification

In the message about homosexuality I mentioned keeping ourselves from associating with the ideals of other cultures and I don't think explained myself as well as I should have. Yes, the ideas and ideals from ancient cultures are still around. If satan doesn't put it into someone's head, some archaeologist will dig it up anyway.

We are to be careful what we see and hear because the idea can be damaging to our psyche, the way we think about ourselves, the way we think about GOD, and ultimately damage our relationship with our LORD.

And I cannot stress enough, my problem is with ideas, philosophy, peer pressure, etc. NOT WITH PEOPLE. Jesus was accused of being a publican and a sinner because He hung out with them. His answer is correct, "They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mark 2:17 (KJV)

One of the saddest things today is that Christian churches are the most segregated. You have white churches, black churches, Korean churches, Catholics, Baptists, Presbyterians. I have met people of every color, nationality, religion, and I am here to tell you, YOU ARE LOVED!

I had a Muslim man come up to me at one of the fairs we were doing several years ago and he was so frustrated. He was so put out, he had to vent to someone, GOD had him choose me. He said you (meaning 'You Christians) have churches on every corner and you all hate each other. And yet you profess to all believe the same thing! You shoot each other all week and go to church like nothing's wrong!"

You know what, he's absolutely correct. This is to our shame, and we give GOD a bad image.

What ever happened to, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35 (ESV)

We all need to spend more time in prayer, more time hanging out with GOD, more time reducing the suffering of others and less time promoting our self interests that are causing division in this world.

Matthew 11:25-30 (ESV)
Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

25 At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
