Homosexuality and What I Believe
I hope and pray that there are still unwavering Christians in this life. People who will follow the LORD even to the death. Those who have not compromised their faith with complacency, unrighteously interpreting the WORD of GOD, diluting the personality and severity of our GOD.
Lot may have lived in Sodom, but the sin around him grieved him in his spirit. How many of us grieve on a daily basis the sin that is allowed to perpetrate itself in our society?
How about in our Churches? How many feel that tiny pain that is the Holy Spirit when we do something in agreement with the crowd even though we know it grieves God ?
How many pastors dilute their messages so as not to offend somebody and lose their attendance (and tithes)? It is already against the law to preach against certain sins, a pastor could get arrested right from the pulpit.
When GOD led the Israelites out of Egypt He gave them very specific instructions NOT to associate with the remnants of the inhabitants of the land that He (GOD) was driving out from before them. They were to kill them, annihilate them. Kind of harsh, you say? Well, now we don't go around killing people and I am not advocating any kind of hate crimes. So how does this relate to us?
Let me put it this way, GOD knew that logic is very pervasive. You can prove any point you want to with even twisted logic. Logic is an enemy of faith. Social pressure is very powerful as well. The more you become friends with someone of an opposing view, the harder it is to hold onto your own. "They aren't so bad." "I need to be more understanding." "Unity in diversity" "A loving god wouldn't be so limited in his view." And on and on.
So just how do we keep to the tenets of our faith in a modern society?
In the society as a whole, you have to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. GOD created mankind with the ability of choice. We are singularly endowed that way. As a people of faith, belonging to a religion, we have sets of rules handed down to us from our GOD. Different religions have different rules, of course. The government has to keep the peace in a society. Therefore there are rules from the government concerning how we treat each other in a society. Here in America we have separation of Church and state. The government doesn't want religion to run them. By the same standard, government has no right telling your religion how to run itself or the members within the confines of that religion.
It would be so much simpler if everyone believed the same thing, wouldn't it? But we don't. That free choice thing again.
In the world and age we live in there are a myriad of peoples and points of view. We CAN'T possibly live one day without offending someone. And that is before we even start to talk about religion. We have to have respect for other people. But if you are going to join a certain religion, you have to abide by the tenets they believe in. If you are not ready to do that, then you shouldn't join. In other words, you do not have the right to change GOD into your image of what you think is right and wrong.
GOD says that the unbeliever cannot understand Him or His wisdom. They can only see their own point of view, or whatever satan wants them to know. Only The Holy Spirit of GOD can draw a person and reveal the truth to them. We are to be spreading the seeds of truth IN LOVE. May the Holy Spirit be our teacher and comforter today.
GOD also says that He hates sin (which is the commission or omission of something) but LOVES THE SINNER. And as Christians we had better ought to be treating people the same way. Otherwise we are hypocrites and giving our dear LORD and Savior a bad name in this world. Ooops! Too late. And you wonder why people hate Christians and religion in general.
We have the right to speak our minds. They have the right to speak their minds. We are not to fight about it. Let's all try to get along, ok?
That being said, I want you to read this passage from Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 3:16-21 (ESV)
A Watchman for Israel
16 And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came to me: 17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 18 If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul. 20 Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. 21 But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul."
As a servant of GOD, I have the utmost respect and reverence for my LORD, and holy fear. If He tells me to say something, I'm going to. He holds the keys to death, hell, and the grave, people do not. It's kind of like telling your children not to play in the street, or whatever they want to do that might hurt them. They are going to kick and scream and throw a fit, but you have to stand firm. Otherwise they could get harmed! I raised 2 boys, I know what I'm saying. And I didn't always win the fight.
Jesus said in John 15:18-21 (ESV), 18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me."
There are things that GOD considers abominations, worse than breaking the commandments:
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (ESV)
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous[a] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[b] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Footnotes:
[a] 1 Corinthians 6:9 Or wrongdoers
[b] 1 Corinthians 6:9 The two Greek terms translated by this phrase refer to the passive and active partners in consensual homosexual acts
Our great country that has been blessed since it's conception is headed for a great fall. It will be an act of GOD because of His judgement. People, homosexuality is wrong. It is a choice. Just like anything else you do. By engaging in this activity, you are telling GOD that He didn't create the human race good enough in the beginning. You are telling GOD that you know better than He does. You are that little kid standing up to his parents with a smart mouth.
Now, that is one problem. Number 2, you say you have the right to get married (for tax purposes?). A civil union would give you those tax breaks. Even common law relationships give you that. You can get married before a justice of the peace.
The problem I see is that you are wanting the government to tell religion to marry gay people. In other words, you want to get married with GOD's blessing. THAT IS AN ABOMINATION! Even in most all major world religions, GOD would never agree to that, and the government doesn't have the right to tell religion to do it anyway.
So why are these cases before the Supreme Court? Because unbelievers don't understand GOD. And they don't understand separation of church and state.
Homosexuality is not a fad, it's been around the whole time. It was used in pagan rituals. If GOD had not said "Do not steal" you would not have known not to steal. GOD has said not to pick up the practices of the heathen that He drove out. If you think you are a homosexual because of some physical condition, He says to keep your vessel (body) honorable by choosing not to engage in that kind of sex.
Number 3, you may say, "but I'm a Christian!" Your church is doing you a great disservice if they allow you to continue in sin. And they put themselves in danger of GOD's judgement as well. Anytime Jesus dealt with people, He would heal them, and then say, "Go and sin no more." You may be a believer in Jesus, but unless that puts you on the path of holiness, that does not make you a disciple. Even the demons believe, but at least they have the good sense to tremble. They know where they are going.
GOD doesn't hate you, and neither do I. He does hate sin, and more than that, He hates willful sin. You make the choices. We all make our choices. It could be gluttony (did you know there are more scriptures about gluttony than alcoholism?), or alcoholism, or thievery or whatever.
Let him who has ears to hear, hear.
