My Prayer - The Armor of God
1-19-1999
(I received this message after I asked the LORD to explain the armor of God to me. I had to go back and research the scriptures. That’s why I put them in the footnotes.)
Ephesians 6:10-20 (my wording)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints; and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak openly, as I ought to speak.
My Prayer
Oh Father, LORD God Almighty,[ii] Creator of the heavens and the earth,[iii] you are the King of kings[iv] and the LORD of lords[v] and you are my God. I thank you for your only son, Jesus.[vi] You are my LORD,[vii] my Light[viii] and my Salvation.[ix] You are my reason for living. You are my sun by day and my moon by night.[x] You give me light and understanding 24 hours a day.[xi] You are my Strength and my Strong Tower.[xii] You are my very breath.[xiii] Your Word is my Bread[xiv] and my Water.[xv]
Thank you for another day, LORD.[xvi] I receive it from Your Hand. Thank you that Your Mercies are new every morning.[xvii] Forgive me my sins,[xviii] LORD. Heal my iniquities.[xix] Make me strong in You.[xx] I love you, LORD. And I bless your Most Holy Name.
And now I give this day back to You, LORD. I submit myself and all that You have given me to be used by You any way that You see fit. You direct my path.[xxi] You make the appointments. You know who needs Your touch today, LORD. Behold the people and how they suffer! Apart from you, we are nothing.[xxii] We are lost, alone, sick and dying. Use me, LORD.[xxiii] Put the people in my path today that You want to minister to. Give me Your Love. Give me Your Grace. Give me Your Mercy. Give me Your Wisdom. Give me Your Words. Give me Your Healing. Let my words be gracious[xxiv] and my touch healing.[xxv] Let me be Your Ambassador[xxvi] as long as You give me time to live. May Your Holy Spirit go with me all the days of my life, especially today, Dear LORD. Always let me remember that my battle is against spiritual forces and not what I see with my eyes. Let me always be in prayer and in constant contact with You.
Pants, Belt=Truth: As I put on my pants, LORD, let me purpose this day to speak Your Truth. When I start to falter because of fear of what other people may think, You will pull me up by my belt-loops, and I will remember the Truth: that You loved us all so much that You sent Your only Son, Jesus, to suffer and die in our place.[xxvii] You paid the price for all time, for all men, everywhere. Just as one person is no more important or less important than another, all sin is an abomination in Your sight.[xxviii] There are no degrees. And when You look at us, all You see are Your Children who have gone astray and lost their way. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.[xxix] It is the Truth that sets us free.[xxx] And anyone that the Son has set free is free indeed![xxxi] Thank you, LORD, for setting me free from the deceptions of the enemy and letting me come into Your Glorious Life![xxxii]
Shoes, Boots=Path: As I put on my shoes, let me remember that You prepare my feet[xxxiii] to take the Gospel Truth wherever You lead me. You set the path[xxxiv] and prepare the way. You are the Light before me,[xxxv] and watch my back behind me.[xxxvi] Goodness and Mercy accompany me all the time.[xxxvii] Let me be quick to be aware of the appointments You set up, no matter how insignificant. Let me always be aware that I am to be Your Ambassador for Christ,[xxxviii] that people are always looking for hope, and that I may be the only ‘Jesus’ they see today.
Shirt, Vest=Righteousness: As I put on my shirt, let me humbly remember that You are my righteousness. In me there is no good thing.[xxxix] But in Christ I can do all things.[xl] You protect me from all the attacks of the enemy,[xli] LORD, because when they look at me, all they see is You. You are the Victorious One, the Lamb that was slain[xlii] and now lives forevermore! Your Blood covers all my sin, LORD, ALL my sin.[xliii] My breastplate shines with the blinding Light of Your Righteousness.[xliv]
Bible=Written Word=Sword of Spirit: Father God, let me not only carry your written Word with me to share Your Love with others, but let Your Word be written in my heart and on my lips constantly.[xlv] Let me be instant at all times, ready to give an explanation of the Hope that I am called to.[xlvi] Let me be watchful for opportunities to explain Your Love to a lost and dying world.[xlvii] Let me be vigilant and brave,[xlviii] knowing that You have counted the cost and found me worthy to serve.[xlix]
Coat, Jacket=Strong Faith Covering=Shield: As I study Your Word today, write Your commandments on my heart[l] so that my faith will be strong.[li] Let me come to know You and the power of Christ.[lii] A strong faith protects me from all the lies and jabbing remarks of the enemy.[liii] A strong faith brings peace and contentment to my heart.[liv] Let Your Word cover me this day with Your Presence[lv] just like this coat. Do not let me go anywhere without Your Presence and Your Covering.[lvi] I am nothing without You, LORD. Protect me from accidents, depression, and personal attacks from the enemy. Don’t let me become broken in the face of the enemy, keep me strong in the faith.[lvii]
Hat, Cap, Helmet=Salvation: As I put on my hat, let me remember that You are my Head and my Covering.[lviii] You cover me with Your Blood, The Blood of Salvation.[lix] It covers not only my head, but down to the soles of my feet.[lx] There is absolutely nothing in this life or the spiritual that can separate me from the Love of Christ Jesus, my LORD.[lxi] You love me, You cover me, You are my LORD.[lxii]
I humbly submit myself to You today dear LORD. I love You and Praise Your Holy Name! Let the Name of the LORD God Almighty be praised! Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD! All Honor and Glory to the LORD of Hosts! His mercies endure forever! Let all the angels rejoice and Praise Him! Let all the Heavens and Earth rejoice before the LORD God, our King and our Friend!
